FILM RANGE

Four Specialist Film Formats

Each film type is engineered for a specific application. We’ll help you select the right structure based on your product, process temperature, shelf life target, and retailer requirements.

Aropack Flow Wrap Film

Flow Wrap Film

Flow wrap film, also known as horizontal form-fill-seal (HFFS) film, is used on high-speed wrapping lines to produce sealed packs for bakery products, confectionery, fresh produce, snack bars, and more. It’s the dominant format for individual portion wrapping in food manufacturing.

Our flow wrap films are available in mono-layer and multi-layer laminate constructions, with barrier options ranging from basic moisture resistance through to full EVOH oxygen barriers for extended shelf life. Twist-wrap and dead-fold grades are also available for confectionery applications.

Applications
Bakery, confectionery, snack bars, fresh produce
Typical Width
Custom slit to line specification
Barrier Options
Basic / Moisture / O₂ (EVOH) / Metallised
Print
Gravure up to 10 colours; digital available
Finish
Gloss, matte, metallic, transparent

Lidding Films

Lidding films are applied over rigid or semi-rigid trays using tray-sealing equipment, creating a hermetic or peelable seal that maintains product freshness. They are widely used across meat, poultry, seafood, ready meals, fresh produce, cheese, and dairy applications.

We supply lidding films engineered for modified atmosphere packaging (MAP), vacuum skin packaging (VSP), and standard top-seal applications. Anti-fog coatings prevent condensation from obscuring the product view, critical for chilled retail presentation. Peelable and peel-reseal structures are available where re-closure after opening is required.

Applications
Meat, poultry, seafood, ready meals, dairy, cheese
Seal Types
Peel, Peel-Reseal, Hermetic, VSP
Special Features
Anti-fog, MAP, laser perforation
Barrier
High O₂ barrier (EVOH / Alu) available
Tray Compatibility
PET, CPET, PP, MAP trays

Re-Closable Films

Re-closable films incorporate a peel-and-reseal adhesive system that allows consumers to open the pack and securely re-close it multiple times, maintaining product freshness between uses. This format has become the standard for sliced cheese, cooked meats, and premium deli products.

The adhesive system is designed to maintain consistent tack across multiple open-close cycles without leaving residue or weakening the seal. Re-closable lidding films can be supplied for tray-seal applications, while re-closable flow wrap structures are available for stick packs and block formats. Anti-fog coating is available for chilled display.

Applications
Sliced cheese, cooked meats, deli, butter, spreads
Mechanism
Peel & reseal adhesive tape / integrated label
Re-close Cycles
Multiple, consistent tack throughout
Compatible Trays
PET, PP, standard retail-ready trays
Options
Anti-fog, high barrier, laser scoring

Ovenable Films

Ovenable films are engineered to withstand the heat of conventional ovens, microwave ovens, and steam cooking applications — making them the packaging solution of choice for ready meals, meal kits, fish en papillote, and premium prepared foods that are cooked or reheated in-pack.

Our ovenable films use CPET (crystallised PET) or specialist polyester-based structures that maintain seal integrity and product containment at temperatures up to 220°C in a conventional oven. Microwave-transparent grades ensure even heating without arcing. Steam venting can be integrated into the lidding structure, allowing pressure to release safely without manual piercing.

Applications
Ready meals, meal kits, fish, premium prepared foods
Max Temp
Up to 220°C (conventional oven)
Cooking Methods
Conventional, microwave, steam, combi
Tray Compatibility
CPET, dual-ovenable aluminium, boilable PP
Special Features
Steam venting, self-venting seals, anti-fog

FILM PROPERTIES

Built-In Performance Laminate Film Properties

Every film structure we produce can be engineered with a range of functional properties to meet the demands of your product and retail environment.

Packaging-Zipper-Icon
Oxygen Barrier

EVOH or aluminium layers block oxygen ingress, dramatically extending shelf life for meat, dairy, and sensitive food products.

Packaging-Laser-Score-Icon
Moisture Barrier

Metallised and PE-based barriers prevent moisture transfer, essential for dry products, biscuits, cereals, and crisp snacks.

Packaging-Window-icon
Anti-Fog Coating

Prevents condensation forming on the inside surface of film,  critical for chilled products where consumer product visibility drives purchase decisions.

Packaging-Perforation-icon
Laser Perforation

Precisely controlled micro-perforations allow controlled gas exchange for fresh produce packaging, extending shelf life without modified atmosphere.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the most common queries we get about our flexible packaging solutions, from lead times to customisation and everything in between.

Flow wrap film is used on horizontal form-fill-seal (HFFS) lines to wrap individual products, the film forms the entire pack structure around the product. Lidding film is a top web applied to a pre-formed rigid or semi-rigid tray using a tray-sealing machine. Both can incorporate high barrier properties, anti-fog coatings, and custom print, but their structures and seal types differ significantly based on application.

Yes. Our lidding films and flow wrap films are available in high-barrier structures specifically designed for MAP applications. These incorporate EVOH or aluminium oxide barrier layers to minimise oxygen transmission, maintaining the modified gas atmosphere inside the pack throughout the product’s shelf life. We can specify OTR (oxygen transmission rate) targets in line with your product and shelf-life requirements.

Our ovenable lidding films are rated up to 220°C for conventional oven applications. Microwave-transparent grades are available for microwave-only or combination oven applications. We also supply boilable and steam-in-bag grades for products cooked at lower temperatures. The right grade depends on your cooking method, cooking time, and tray substrate, our team will advise based on your process data.

Re-closable films use a pressure-sensitive adhesive system incorporated into the top surface of the film. When the consumer peels back the lidding, the adhesive retains sufficient tack to re-seal the pack when pressed back down. Our re-closable films are designed to maintain consistent tack across multiple open-close cycles, typically 5 to 10 or more, without leaving adhesive residue on the product or tray. Performance depends on storage temperature and product contact, which we factor into the film specification.

Anti-fog coating is applied to the interior surface of film used over chilled or refrigerated products. Without it, temperature differences between the product and the environment cause water vapour to condense as droplets on the inside of the film, obscuring the product from the consumer. We recommend anti-fog as standard for any chilled, fresh, or refrigerated product where product visibility is important: meat, fish, cheese, fresh produce, and prepared salads being the most common examples.

Yes. We supply film slit to your exact line width and roll dimensions. Before first supply, we’ll request your equipment manufacturer specifications, including jaw seal temperature range, slit width tolerances, roll internal diameter, and core size. We can supply test quantities for line trials to confirm seal integrity and runnability before committing to a full production run.
